Getting Back In the Exercise Groove

Getting Back In the Exercise Groove

When was the last time you decided to hit the gym? If you are like most people, it can be hard to revive your regimen, especially if it has been awhile since you worked out. Fortunately, you don't have to let a little downtime make you feel sluggish. I have been super skinny and over the top fat, and I know what it takes to get back to the gym after a long hiatus. My blog details my own journey, so that you can stay motivated to attend those classes, perfect your run, or lift weights until it feels like your arms will fall off.

What Should You Wear To Fitness Class?

When you go to a fitness class, your first instinct probably is not to dress to the nines. At the same time, you may want to feel good about yourself in class, and the clothes you wear can influence your confidence and self-esteem. These tips will help you put together a workout outfit that you feel comfortable wearing to class for your next exercise class.

Wear Spandex

While many people wear cotton to the gym, spandex and nylon are actually better choices for your next class. They are both very breathable, and they absorb some of your sweat, so you won't leave class feeling drenched. For a fitness class, these fabrics offer just the right amount of absorbency and air circulation. Essentially, any material that wicks away sweat is going to do wonders for you during class, and you won't smell like a dirty gym bag after class either.

Leggings Are a Good Go-To

One of the best things you can wear for a fitness class is leggings. Leggings stick to your body, and they prevent getting stuck on equipment or not getting your full range of motion. Even men can benefit from having tighter pants or shorts. If you are attending a barre class or something similar, it's a good idea to wear full leggings rather than shorts or capris due to the compression they offer. Not sure if your leggings will hold up? Do some stretches at home before class and see how it goes.

Choose a Tighter Top

Even if you wear a sports bra to class, you should wear a snug top over it. A looser shirt can catch on equipment and get in the way of your motions. You will be much more protected with a snugger shirt.

Choose Shoes Based on the Class

The type of shoes you should wear to class depends on what kind of class you are taking. If you are taking a weightlifting class, you should wear tennis shoes. If you are doing Pilates, you will probably be barefoot. If you are going to barre class, you want to wear shoes that have a grip on the bottom. The shoes and socks you wear will keep you comfortable and safe as you work out.

Safety is of the utmost importance when you work out. Ensure you wear the appropriate clothing and shoes to prevent injuries and discomfort while you are exercising.
